On June 4, 2019, I got surgery (Anterior Cervical Discetomy and Fusion) on C4-C7 due to severe spinal stenosis (nerves all pinched). Technology is amazing. A moose was there to greet us at 5:45 in the morning.
The surgery consisted of them cutting a hole in my neck. They then pushed aside the esophagus, vocal cords and all other muscles, etc. to access my spine. They removed the bone spurs and figured out what needed to be done to get spacing right for my neck. When the doctor knew what he needed, he 3-D printed titanium replacement parts, put them in and sewed me back up.
Unfortunately, anesthesia and I do not cooperate in the best of circumstances. The circumstances here were not the best. I spent two days throwing up before I could leave the hospital. I did make it home 45 minutes before my daughter arrived for her previously planned vacation with hubby and kids.
The black dots on the second xray posted here are the staples from my 2002 surgery on my aorta.
