The North Carolina crew came to Wyoming for our annual get-together. Because of my hospital stay, we cut it close, they arrived 45 minutes after I got home from the hospital. Although we had originally planned to go camping, we had a great time just hanging around town exploring Rock Springs. After they got home, my daughter told me Willem had said “Mom, can we just move here?” Awwwwwww
They got in at about 4:25, which is 6:25 North Carolina time, so we had a quick walk in the desert right by our house. We had set up the travel trailer in the driveway so they got to stay there as their own home away from home. After dinner, (Taco Time, Monika’s favorite) everyone turned in for the night.
The morning of June 7, we went to Expedition Island so the kids could do the splash park. Although the splash park looks fun, North Carolina children are not accustomed to Wyoming Summers, and it was just too cold for them to run around in the splash park, so we played on the playground instead. We then headed in to town to get ready for Mabel’s early birthday party.

We spent the morning touring downtown Rock Springs. We didn’t get any photos of when we stopped at Bello Capelli. We also didn’t get photos of the Rock Springs Museum, and only one of Sidekicks, but we did get a few at the Brewery where we ate lunch. Then we went home and the kids got to learn how to play marbles. (Score another notch in her belt for grandma and obnoxious toys – she sent lots of marbles home with them). They also got to play more with grandma’s cars.

The kids kept saying they wanted to go “to the pool” so we did. We packed everyone up and headed over to the RS Rec Center pool. What a great idea. Dave and I didn’t swim. I couldn’t because, surgery, and Dave didn’t want to. After watching all the fun the others were having swimming, he expressed his regrets that he hadn’t chosen to swim. The waterslides were a big hit.
We went to the College to see the dinosaur exhibit. Afterwards, I came home for a nap and everyone else went to Old Chicago. Then people came home and we did crafts, played with cars and made sure everyone was packed for their early morning departure.
